Family Business Succession and Management

RESUMEN: La empresa familiar desempeña un papel esencial en la economía, tanto a nivel nacional como a nivel internacional. Además, existe una tendencia en la que cada vez es mayor la importancia de este tipo de organizaciones en la economía. Sin embargo, a pesar de su importancia, no existe a día de hoy una definición unánime para la descripción de este concepto. El presente trabajo consiste en una revisión bibliográfica sobre la teoría de la empresa familiar a partir de diversas fuentes (artículos, libros, revistas, trabajos, etc.) en el que se analiza la visión del concepto que tienen los diversos autores, las ventajas y los inconvenientes de este modelo y su influencia en la economía. Lo que diferencia a una empresa familiar del resto de organizaciones es la relación que existe entre la familia, la propiedad y la empresa. El modelo de los tres círculos defiende que son estos los pilares sobre los que se sustenta una empresa familiar, indicando que surgen hasta siete agentes involucrados como resultado de dichas relaciones: la familia, la propiedad, la empresa, los familiares propietarios, los propietarios no familiares, los familiares trabajadores de la empresa y los familiares propietarios que trabajan en la empresa. Además, se destaca el proceso de sucesión como el conflicto principal al que se enfrentan este tipo de organizaciones y todos los factores que pueden tener influencia en él. En el apartado «Sucesión» se señala la importancia de la elaboración de un Protocolo Familiar. Se trata de una herramienta creada por los miembros de la familia para solventar los problemas que puedan surgir, así como para garantizar una comunicación fluida entre sus miembros. Dado que el estudio de la empresa familiar es relativamente reciente, con este trabajo se pretende fomentar la investigación en este campo y una mayor profundización de su estudio para concienciar a los empresarios, los estudiantes, los investigadores y a la sociedad en general sobre su rol clave en la actividad económica. Para ello, se proponen líneas de investigación futuras como el papel de la mujer en la empresa familiar, la internacionalización de la empresa familiar o la adaptación a las nuevas tecnologías de las empresas familiares. ABSTRACT: The family business plays an essential role in the economy, both nationally and internationally. The importance of this kind of business is increasing. However, despite its relevance, a unanimous definition for this concept has not been found yet. The present work consists on a bibliographical review on the theory of the family enterprise from various sources (articles, books, journals, papers, etc.) in which the vision of the concept held by the various authors, the advantages and disadvantages of this model and its influence on the economy are analyzed. What makes a family business unique is the existing relationship between the family, the ownership and the company. The three-circle model suggest that these are its main pillars and, as a result of these relationships, the following agents could emerge: family, ownership, company, family owners, non-family owners, family employees and family owner employees. In addition, the process of succession is highlighted as the main conflict faced by this type of organization. In the section ‘Succession’, the importance of the elaboration of a Family Protocol is highlighted. It is a tool created by the family members to solve the problems that may arise, as well as to guarantee a fluid communication between its members. Given that the study of the family business is relatively recent, this work aims to encourage research in this field and to further study it in order to raise awareness among entrepreneurs, students, researchers and society in general of its key role in economic activity. In order to achieve this encouragement, future lines of research are suggested at the end of this work, such as the role of women in family business, the family business internalization or the adaptation to new technologies.Grado en Administración y Dirección de Empresa

App2Check @ ATE_ABSITA 2020: Aspect Term Extraction and Aspect-based Sentiment Analysis

In this paper we describe and present the results of the system we specifically developed and submitted for our participation to the ATE_ABSITA 2020 evaluation campaign on the Aspect Term Extraction (ATE), Aspect-based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA), and Sentiment Analysis (SA) tasks. The official results show that App2Check ranks first in all of the three tasks, reaching a F1 score which is 0.14236 higher than the second best system in the ATE task and 0.11943 higher in the ABSA task; it shows a Root-Mean-Square Error (RMSE) that is 0.13075 lower than the second classified in the SA task

Presencia de una abeja polinizadora exótica Megachile (Eutricharaea) concinna (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae) en Sudamérica. Una introducción accidental?

Here we report for the first time the presence of the exotic leafcutter bee Megachile (Eutricharaea) concinna in South America, based on specimens collected in the northeast part of Buenos Aires province, Argentina. We believe that M. concinna accidentally entered the country probably together with the introduction of M. rotundata to different regions of the country for commercial purposes since the 1970?s. A diagnosis, illustrations, flowers records, and nesting data are given.Citamos por primera vez para Sudamérica la presencia de la abeja exótica Megachile (Eutricharaea) concinna. Examinamos especimenes recolectados en la región noreste de la provincia de Buenos Aires. Author Correction: 3D measurement techniques for the hindfoot alignment angle from weight-bearing CT in a clinical population

Cone-beam CT (CBCT) scans now enable accurate measurements on foot skeletal structures with the advantage of observing these in 3D and in weight-bearing. Among the most common skeletal deformities, the varus/valgus of the hindfoot is the most complex to be represented, and a number of measure proposals have been published. This study aims to analyze and to compare these measurements from CBCT scans in a real clinical population with large such deformity. Ten patients with severe acquired adult fatfoot and indication for surgery underwent CBCT scans (Carestream, USA) while standing on that leg, before and after surgical correction. Corresponding 3D shape of each bone of the distal shank and hindfoot were defned (Materialise, Belgium). Six diferent techniques from the literature were used to calculate the varus/valgus deformity, i.e. the inclination of the hindfoot in the frontal plane of the shank. Standard clinical measurements by goniometers were taken for comparison. According to these techniques, and starting from a careful 3D reconstruction of the relevant foot skeletal structures, a large spectrum of measurements was found to represent the same hindfoot alignment angle. Most of them were very diferent from the traditional clinical measures. The assessment of the pre-operative valgus deformity and of the corresponding post-operative correction varied considerably. CBCT fnally allows 3D assessment of foot deformities in weight-bearing. Measurements from the diferent available techniques do not compare well, as they are based on very diferent approaches. It is recommended to be aware of the anatomical and functional concepts behind these techniques before clinical and surgical conclusions

The subgenus Megachile (Dasymegachile) Mitchell with special reference to the Argentine species (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae)

Se reconocen 17 especies para el subgénero Megachile (Dasymegachile), de las cuales 12 se distribuyen en Chile, nueve en Argentina, tres en Perú y una en Bolivia. Se brindan descripciones, ilustraciones y claves para la identifi cación de las especies argentinas. Se revisan las distribuciones geográfi cas; M. cinerea y M. melanotricha, son citadas por primera vez para Argentina. Dos nuevas especies son citadas para Chile.Seventeen species of Megachile (Dasymegachile) are recognized, twelve species from Chile, nine species from Argentina, three from Peru and one from Bolivia. Descriptions, illustrations, and keys for the identification for the Argentinean species are provided. The geographical distributions in Argentina are revised; M. cinerea and M. melanotricha are recorded for the first time from Argentina. Caracterización génica de los delfines australes (Lagenorhynchus australis) en un área marina protegida, Patagonia Argentina

El Parque Interjurisdiccional Marino Costero Patagonia Austral (PIMCPA) está ubicado en Chubut, y tiene como fin administrar y manejar la riqueza y biodiversidad ambiental. Entre los pequeños cetáceos que habitan el parque podemos encontrar el delfín austral. En Argentina, se distribuye entre los 44ºS-56ºS y frecuenta hábitats tanto costeros como pelágicos. El objetivo del presente trabajo es caracterizar la diversidad génica de la población de delfines australes en el área del PIMCPA, dado que no existen estudios de genética previos para la especie.Fil: Durante, Cristian Alberto. Lejos de casa: nuevo registro para delfines comunes de pico corto, Delphinus delphis (Cetacea, Odontoceti, Delphinidae), en Bahía Camarones, Patagonia, República Argentina

El delfín común de pico corto, Delphinus delphis (Linnaeus, 1758), es un pequeño cetáceo con distribución en aguas tropicales y subtropicales. En el presente trabajo se reporta un nuevo registro de delfines comunes de pico corto en el área de Bahía Camarones, Patagonia, República Argentina. El pequeño grupo de delfines estaba formado por tres individuos adultos y un individuo más pequeño, probablemente juvenil. Este evento de avistamiento constituye el registro más meridional de la especie en la costa argentina, destacándose aquí la importancia de los monitoreos sistemáticos como parte integral de cualquier programa destinado a promover el bienestar de las comunidades locales de cetáceos.The short-beaked common dolphin, Delphinus delphis (Linnaeus, 1758), is a pelagic small cetacean distributed in tropical and subtropical waters. Here we present a new record for short-beaked common dolphins in Bahía Camarones, Patagonia, Argentina. The small group of dolphins was formed by three adult individuals and a smaller one, probably a juvenile. This sighting event is the southernmost record for the species in the Argentine coast, showing the importance of systematic surveys as an integral part of any program aimed at monitoring the well-being of local cetacean communities.Fil: Loizaga de Castro, Rocio.
